Enjoying the event after finishing the 5K

This past weekend approximately 100 students of Texans Can Academy – Houston Southwest, along with members of the community, gathered for the Be Incredibly Well & Houston Can 5K Run/Walk. The event took place at Oyster Creek Park in Sugar Land, TX at 8:00 a.m. Medals were awarded to finishers; vendors and sponsors set up along the finish line; and food trucks, a kid zone, and a DJ all contributed to the success of the event.

Texans Can Academy – Houston Southwest and their non-profit partner, Be Incredibly Well (BIW Foundation), hosted the 5K fun run/walk. The Houston high school provides a high quality education for all students, especially those who have struggled in a traditional high school setting, in order to ensure their economic independence. The BIW Foundation is an organization committed to strengthening the mental and emotional well-being of individuals.

The BIW Foundation has been hosting weekly Thursday mentorship meetings during the lunch hour for female students at the Houston campus to discuss well-being, health, self-esteem, leadership, and how to positively transform lives. The proceeds from the fun run/walk are going towards helping the BIW Foundation host a spring conference for the Texans Can Academy – Houston Southwest female students about the power of “I am”. The conference will include presentations about etiquette, business leadership, communication, inspirational speakers and art culture.
